Melpomene

Named for the Greek Muse of Tragedy and wielded by the Daughters of Cacophony. It explores the power of the voice, shaking the very soul of those nearby and allowing the vampire to perform sonic feats otherwise impossible. The powers of Melpomene evoke on a much deeper level than mere flesh, they affect an individual’s soul.

This Discipline can actually be used against deaf individuals, but the effect cannot be encoded into musical mediums of any sort. A vampire cannot have a higher rating in Melpominee than their Expression.

Trait: Social Ability: Expression

The Missing Voice

Challenge: None Cost: One Expression retest Duration: Scene

Tragedy, triumph, or indifference; if expressed through the voice, an extreme measure of control must be wielded to stir things some might consider better left alone. The Missing Voice allows a Kindred to exert a measure of control over her voice. By using this power the Daughter can make her voice come from any point within line of sight. Their voice actually originates from that point. At will they can shift the point of origin of their voice between their own throat and the point decided while the power is active but they cannot choose other points without recasting the power. For example she can talk, and make a wooden dummy talk in the same hour for one use of the power but they cannot talk, make a dummy talk and a box talk without expending 2 retests. Note no powers other than Melpomene can be used through this power (no Dominate, Presence, etc.)

⚫⚫ Phantom Speaker

Challenge: None Cost: None Duration: Scene

The Daughter's voice echoes and vibrates through the hearts and ears of her listeners and outward into the world. The Daughter learns to manipulate this property of her power to reach listeners far beyond where her voice can reach normally. The Daughter can speak to any person she has met before so long as they both reside inside the same timezone. Use of this power requires concentration. (The Kindred should use the phone call hand symbol to represent the use of this power.)

⚫⚫⚫ Madrigal

Challenge: Socials (Performance) vs. Socials (Will) Cost: One Blood Duration: One scene

The Daughters of Cacophony hear the thrum and beat of the cosmos, Madrigal allows one to be opened, so that they might hear the infinite as well. A Kindred spends a blood point then sings; dances; recites poetry; etc. and makes a social challenge vs. a target. If the caster wins, the target loses ties on all mental challenges for the duration of the scene. The target’s mind becomes impossible to quiet and all they can focus on is the song.

⚫⚫⚫⚫ Siren’s Beckoning

Challenge: None to establish, target may spend a willpower to make a social challenge against the Daughter to resist. Cost: One Will Duration: One scene, action to activate

History is abound with stories of the power of the voice to influence and lull its listener’s hearts and soul. The Siren’s call has lead many an individual to his ultimate demise, despite his unwillingness to heed its song. The performer of Siren’s Beckoning spends a Willpower and then makes some sort of performance, preferably playing a musical instrument.

For the duration of the performance, the caster cannot make any other actions but is allowed their full move during the performance. All those within line of hearing or sight may still act as they please but can only move towards the caster. No other movement is allowed be it flight, teleportation or any other form of travel, all must go towards the caster using the simplest and fastest route possible.

A willpower may be spent by kindred to make a social challenge to resist its effects. Mortals cannot resist the beckoning of the performer’s song. Targets can make a Self-Control check at a difficulty of the caster’s performance skill to stand still. This power in no way protects the caster from harm, targets can still fight, talk, use powers, or what have you as they see fit.

⚫⚫⚫⚫⚫ Shattering Crescendo

Challenge: No challenge Cost: One Willpower Duration: One action

Sound can rend the soul of its listeners evoking pain, madness, or ultimate glee. Art’s Traumatic Essence takes this to another level conferring such disturbances to the flesh. A Vampire spends one Willpower and utters a sound, all those within earshot take the caster’s Self-control rating in aggravated wounds. Even if ventriloquism is used to place the point of origin of the caster’s voice outside her body the caster takes the damage as well. This power can be soaked as normal by the caster and victims. This power my target something in LOS. it can never be combined with extra actions.
