Matter Rotes

Reinforcement

Type: Basic Paradox: +1 if witnessed Challenge: Mentals(Arete) vs 10 traits Cost: 1Q Duration: 1 scene

  • Short cast: Sets the bonus from any item to be worth Matter+2 traits for the scene. Once set this way the item ignores all other trait improving tags such as expensive or perfect. The improved item must be an applicable item for the skill already.
  • Long cast: Wonder: This wonder effect can be cast on any item to increase the traits it provides by one. It can be cast on Armor to lower the trait penalty by one.

Create Object

Type: Basic Paradox: +1 if witnessed Challenge: Mentels(Arete) vs 10 traits Cost: 1Q Duration: 1 scene

  • Short cast: When you cast this spell you create a single item you've seen or can think of. You can create an item of category or skill bonus no greater than your (Matter) Score, or 100$. The item created lasts for a scene, or you can maintain it for the night by committing the Quintessence for the night lowering your current and max quint scores until you dismiss the item.
  • Long cast: You May cast this spell in place of a craft action to create an item of category 3 or less, or +3 skill item or less.

Forge Wonder

Type: Passive Paradox: N/A Challenge: N/A Cost: N/A Duration: Permanent

  • Short cast: Taking this rote permanently decreases the difficulty of all adding wonders to items, dynamic magic, and crafting checks by 1. If multiple mages are working on a dynamic spell, and the caster is a master of matter(3) each additional master of matter(3) can reduce the difficulty of that spell by an additional 1, otherwise the spells difficulty is merely reduced by 1.
  • Long cast: Wonder: This wonder effect allows the mage to add any tag to any weapon or armor. Weapon tags can't go on armor though and vice-versa.

Analyze

Type: Basic Paradox: N/A Challenge: Mentals(Arete) vs 10 traits Cost: 1Q Duration: Instant

  • Short cast: By looking at an item and making the basic check, you can tell its exact functions, the name of the maker, and what it was used in last. Also see the last aura that touched it.
  • Long cast: You may cast this spell once during a research project; it counts for 5 points of research.

Change State

Type: Basic/Opposed Paradox: +2 if witnessed Challenge: Mentals(Arete) vs Mentals(security) or physicals(defense) Cost: 1Q Duration: 1 scene(or until cost dismissed)

  • Short cast: Depending on your mastery of the matter sphere you can cast any of the below effects you have greater or higher matter than.
    • 1) You can transform yourself into a gaseous form that moves as mist form. (Basic)
    • 2) You can transform a wall or barrier up to 3 feet thick to move your way through with a check vs the wall’s security(the diff to get through a standard wall is 3)
    • 3) You can transform another person into a liquid till the end of the scene, can't attack, and they act as if they were blind, and they can only take 1 step per round. They are immune to damage and will slip out of any container. Mentals(arete) vs physicals(defense).
  • Long cast: If you cast this spell as a bluebook action you can transform into a gaseous form and flee the scene immediately once per night as an action. ( Works as per escape powers)
